We feature here two very different but equally charming hotels, one a smart and luxurious resort, the other a rustic eco-lodge, both thoroughly good choices for any traveller.
The Yangshuo Resort
The recently-opened Yangshuo Resort is a delight. Whilst its architecture and style are deeply traditional, it is nevertheless a very contemporary hotel and is aiming to achieve a 5*rating. It stands directly on the river bank in the heart of stunning rural scenery, all rooms have a balcony and view of the Yulong River and the karst hills on the opposite bank. There is a very inviting open air swimming pool in the gardens, and guests may borrow bicycles to explore the surrounding countryside.
Mountain Retreat
Nestling beneath a lush karst mountain and on the banks of the Yulong River, the Mountain Retreat enjoys an idyllic location deep in the rural countryside outside Yangshuo, with water buffalo occasionally wandering across the front lawn. This small, simple yet chic country inn makes for a relaxing base to explore the surroundings, there are no TVs or telephones in the rooms, most of which overlook the river, the food is fresh and hearty and the local staff will do their utmost to ensure you have an unforgettable stay.
